its not bad... if you preorder though you get to start playing a day early and get an ingame item... theres no telling if they will sell out everywhere, depends on where you live and such. places like www.Ebgames.com charge no price to preorder though

That's possible. You'll also be starting the game a day later than everyone who pre-orders, and you won't get the bonus item (which is probably not worth anything but what the heck). Since it doesn't really cost anything to pre-order, why would you not?

A funny thing happened on the way to the vet's.
I preordered th game then a week later the review site I work for got me a press pass. Which means I got unlimited access to beta events and press events. Also It means I will recive a review copy of the game. Well I guess that means my GF will have to play now as well.
I don't think the press key give me any extras other than access to press only events.
I guess in my case pre-ordering was a bad thing, but ah well it's a good game and the developers deserve my cash, so I'm not begrudged buying a spare copy.

Correct me if I am wrong. But I am pretty sure you just go to the store which has the game and purchase the pre-order box. And once the game is in stores or when the store gets your game. I'm not sure if they mail it to you if you live away or if you have to pick it up yourself.

If you have a Local EB games or Best buy just go to the store and do it, if not you can go to any of the sites on guildwars.com and preorder.
But IMHO go to the store if you can, this way you get the game day of release, and not hope that the delivery gets borked.

Just go to the store you want to buy the game at and tell them you want to pre-order it. You give them a bit of money (like $5, but I think you can pay the whole price right there) and when the game comes out, they have a copy reserved for you (so it won't sell out on you). When you pick it up, just pay the amount of the game minus the amount you paid when you pre-ordered.

Well I say they may ship it to you because I live in a SMALL town. And the closest store that I trust with the game is like 45 min. drive away. And I don't get to go that often BUT I better get to go on Thursday to go get the game. I have been waiting since Jan. for this game!! But I have patience..

Yeah, just tell them what you want to preorder. You need to at least put in $5 immediately or more.

Your choice, though you have to give at least $5 when you first preorder it. When you pick it up you have to show the receipt and pay the rest. Its very easy man, a 10 year old can do it.

Note that whatever you paid to preorder the game goes toward its purchase. So if you paid $5 to preorder it and the game costs $50, you'll pay $45 on the day it comes out.

Depends on where you live, and how many games the stores get, but considering they'll be sold at different stores accross usa, i can imagine it may be the same way accross most of the world.
Some games are more popular in certain area's depending on the "gaming" comunity and word of mouth...

Guild Wars is popular, but it's not Half Life 2. I wouldn't expect it to be sold out in every store on the first day.
Nevertheless, I would try to go get it ASAP. While ANet has by far the most stable network I've ever seen, good MMORPGs tend to surpass company sales estimates, and even the best can get caught with their pants down and not enough bandwith. (cough, Blizzard Entertainment)
I seriously doubt that this will happen with Guild Wars, but I remember not being able to buy WoW for a few months because they canned further manufactoring until their servers became more *stable* and could handle the load. Hence, go out and nab it quickly!
And, as a last note, the dev team had mentioned in a past Fansite Friday that expansions would probably be available for download online thanks to their streaming technology. I wouldn't expect it to be available for this release, but it might be worth checking anyways!
